Hermann Voegele is a master gardener from Rußheim, near Karlsruhe, Germany. He was born in Karlsruhe in 1954, and after completing his school-leaving exams, enrolled in a one-year course at the technical college for carpentry in Schwetzingen. He followed that with a course in tool and container design under Prof Gottfried Böckelmann in Hildesheim, with a focus on wood turning. In 1985, Hermann Voegele completed his gardening studies with his Master Craftsman Certificate in horticulture, and since then has worked in various associated fields; most recently in garden maintenance and care.
Hermann Voegele has also gained holistic experience at his own Demeter vegetable plantation, complete with market stand. His ten years of experience in garden maintenance, during which time he also started woodcarving, laid the foundations for his current activities: his company GartenLiebe (Love of Gardens), and his artistic ‘Ornamental Wood’ creations.
“My work as a gardener gives me the opportunity to collect unusual pieces of wood, namely branches and twigs. To counterpart my physically exhausting work, I discovered woodcarving. Here I can sit in quiet contemplation and let my Fantasies in Wood take shape.” – Hermann Voegele
